If you had told me that this song was from the unexpectedly-fantastic Love & Rockets comeback record (which, as far as I know, doesn't exist), I would have believed you. For a second. I mean, really: if you threw "Mirror People '88" somewhere onto The Big Pink's new record, it wouldn't seem at all out of place.

"Velvet" is a pretty fantastic song, though. Nothing we haven't heard before, and A Brief History of Love is an album that sounds great as a whole, but I don't see returning to too much once it's fallen out of my heavy rotation, but for cloudy days at the end of a week, wanting to break out a little but not being able to, it's a perfect sound.
