Favorite Albums of 2008

This years list is somewhat arbitrary. There were about 20 albums I thought were solid in 2008, but none of them really jump out ahead. That being said, I argue that Fleet Foxes deserves the top spot, mainly because their live show in DC a few months ago was one of the best concerts I've been to in a long time. Each album on this list dominated my speakers at one point over the last 12 months, and that was my only other criteria. Hence "favorite" not "best".

1. Fleet Foxes, Fleet Foxes
"He Doesn't Know Why"

2. Beach House, Devotion
"Heart of Chambers"

3. Flying Lotus, Los Angeles
"Comet Course"

4. Atlas Sound, Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See but Cannot Feel
"Scraping Past"

5. TV on the Radio, Dear Science
"Golden Age"

6. Vampire Weekend, Vampire Weekend
"Oxford Comma"

7. The Dodos, Visiter
"Fools"

8. Department of Eagles, In Ear Park
"No One Does It Like You"

9. Lil Wayne, Tha Carter III
"Mr. Carter"

10. Man Man, Rabbit Habits
"Harpoon Fever (Queequeg's Playhouse)"
