FutureJazzBot

My brother came up with great name for a seemingly unnameable genre: FutureJazzBot. Unconventional instruments, jazz compositions, mixed via electronica...the future of jazz? Probably not, but artists like Four Tet, Matthew Herbert, Daedelus, Royksopp, Battles and many others all seem to fit into this strange categorization. Granted there is not much improvisation involved, but it definitely has a late night smoky lounge vibe, just switch out the horn section, White Russians, and cigarette smoke for some jazz samples, PBRs and a drum machine and you got some FutureJazzBot.

The UK's Bonobo fits this mold perfectly. Its pretty much downtempo techo with jazz flute on top...no surprises, just solid, unpretentious noise. Only real mark against is the name of his 2003 album Dial "M" for Monkey. No comment.

Wow. Amazing. That's the first time I've downloaded a song from here.

You've heard "Rose Rogue" by Saint Germain, right? This reminds me a lot of that.
